Artwork Description
- The 2003 invasion of Iraq took centre stage as the world watched on, seeing the “shock and awe” destruction of Baghdad and overthrow of Saddam Hussein.
- Now you get to zoom in, to an insider vantage point. The artist Hamdan Saray was living in Baghdad during the war.
- His cold and eerie 2021 exhibition expressed the memories that are seared into his conscience.
- The exhibition, entitled “Memories of a Mechanical Eye”, attracted a crowd at Bronze Gallery in Baghdad.
